What do I need to get started with digital video?
If you have a PC or laptop already running Windows 2000 or XP with an 1.6 Ghz P4 processor or higher and 512Mb RAM then you can probably avoid buying any new hardware except for a firewire card (priced from about £25) to enable you to import video from the DV camera. You will need a digital video camera which now start at less than £200 for an entry level model, but we would recommend a minimum resolution of 800,000 pixels and analogue input to enable you to convert from video tape to digital format. Finally you need one of the Dartfish packages which start from £650.00 + VAT for the Dartfish Connect package which is also available on 30 day trial. The Dartfish package is available in 4 different levels to suit individual needs and budgets. The "Dartfish Connect " package is aimed at those wanting to get started with video analysis of taped video sequences. The
"Dartfish Live" package adds the "In the Action" module, which provides the element of instantaneous, real time feedback for students / athletes. The "Professional Suite" contains all the features of the Basic and Standard plus special effects features of Stromotion and Simulcam, together with the media book producer. The top level package "Dartfish TeamPro" adds the ability for team sports analysis by adding sophisticated video tagging and indexing features to the features already found in the Professional Suite. Dartfish Classroom is the latest addition to the Dartfish software family. This product is a fully networked version of Dartfish Connect enabling access to the software across an organisation.
